Robert M. Pitts is a Board Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law. Since 1974 he has been on the panel of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the Western District of North Carolina. Early in his career as an attorney, Bob handled a variety of legal matters including criminal, domestic, and personal injury cases. For several years he has concentrated on his work as a chapter 7 trustee and assisting people with financial problems. He was again awarded a “Super Lawyer” designation in 2015 in the practice area of Consumer Bankruptcy.
Bob was born in Asheville and went to school in Glen Alpine, N.C. He attended NC State for one year and completed his undergraduate education at UNC-Chapel Hill. After serving in the US Navy he returned to UNC to receive his law degree. He and Jim Hugenschmidt established a law firm in Asheville in 1973. He and his wife, Becky, have three boys. Two of their son’s practice law in Asheville. In his time away from the office, Bob enjoys reading, travel, time with his grandchildren, volunteer activities, and stone-working.
